Leo couldn’t believe the gall that Eli had. All that time of telling him that it was for the best, that he was being strong, that it wouldn’t work out anyway, and there he was, having the time of his life claiming his mate.

It made Leo so angry. Angry with Eli and with himself. He felt kind of stupid now for holding out on his own mate for so long when his instincts were screaming at him to go to the man and claim him.

But if he did claim him, then he was going to have to make the choice to either not go back, or to leave by himself and risk killing them both after their souls were wrenched apart.

He and Eli had never bothered to ask Annabel whether or not they could take anyone with them once they arrived in the past. She had always specified that once he and Eli removed their amulets, then that would be it, they would go home.

The problem was that they’d both been here for weeks now, and neither of them was still satisfied enough that their actions had made enough of an impact to save the pack. Leo wouldn’t be satisfied until Lawrence was dead, and that rogue pack led by Bud was put in its place.

The last time Leo had seen Bastion was two days ago, when he’d given Roarke that lottery ticket. He’d taken the time to research what the winning numbers were on certain weeks before coming here. He wasn’t sure if it would still be good. Would his actions in a small town like this affect what some computer spit out in a city somewhere?

He hoped it would work. He thought that if the pack won all that money, then they could put it to good use paying off loans, buying new vehicles, and investing in some protection for their property. Like an alarm system or something.

Mostly, he also wanted his parents, and Bastion, to be well taken care of. Staying had never been an option before, but if Eli was going to do it, leave behind everything, Leo included, to be here, then maybe Leo should consider it, too.

At the very least he needed to give Bastion a choice in all this as well. Leo was going to tell Bastion who he was and where he was from, and if the man still wanted him, then Leo would claim him. If he didn’t, then Leo was going to hold off until his work here was done and leave.

Hopefully that would allow them both to be rid of each other without hurting either of them since Leo hadn’t actually claimed him yet.

Leo sighed and rubbed his face. This was all way too fucked up, but it had to be done. He was tired of running away from his mate. Leo looked back at the motel where the man who was like a brother to him was staying with his mate, and he turned around and made a run for it back to Roarke’s pack.
